Why does our body need alkaline mineral water?
The pH of the human body lies in a tight range between 7.35-7.45 and any minor alterations from this range can have severe implications. This means that our body is naturally slightly alkaline and we have to keep that balance to be healthy. In our everyday diet, we consume a lot of acidic things like meat, dairy, coffee, wine, vinegar, etc.
The body needs a constant supply of alkaline minerals to replenish its acid-buffering reserves. Our body is perfectly capable of maintaining its pH balance provided it receives proper nutrients.
When the body is not getting enough alkaline minerals from food and water, it must rob calcium from its bones to neutralize acidity. Additionally, if the water doesn't have enough minerals when it is consumed, the water itself will steal minerals from the body. This is not ideal and once the body's readily available alkaline minerals supplies are depleted, it becomes overly acidic.
Acidosis can cause severe health issues like headaches, fatigue, shortness of breath, heart arrhythmia, coughing, increased heart rate, and diarrhea. Not consuming enough alkaline mineral water can also cause a magnesium deficiency.
